Traveling to Orlando: Air Transportation
Orlando International Airport
The closest airport to all local attractions, Orlando International Airport is 11 miles east of downtown Orlando. MCO is home to 42 airlines, with more than 850 daily flights. Fares for rideshare services average $35-$45 or $45-$60 for a taxi.
Additional Nearby Airports
Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) is located 45 miles north of the Orange County Convention Center and is home to two small airlines: Allegiant and Sun Country Airlines. Fares for rideshare services average $50 and $70–80 if using a taxi.
Tampa International Airport (TPA) is located two hours from Orlando and hosts 22 airlines, with the largest carrier being Southwest. Tampa is accessible to Orlando via train, bus, or car. Amtrak trains run from Tampa Union Station to Orlando for around $15 each way. From the Orlando Amtrak Station it’s a 15-minute taxi/rideshare.

Taxis and Ride Shares
Mears Transportation, Diamond Cab, and Quick Transportation are Orlando International Airport’s on-demand taxicab providers. Diamond Cab serves 24/7. GPS dispatch shows route and fare details and lets you text your driver.
Transportation Network Companies (ride-share apps like Lyft and Uber) can service passengers at the airport. Pick-up areas are curbside on the ground level and signed.
Car Rental
Most major car rental companies are located at the airport—no shuttle needed.
Amtrak
Traveling to Orlando by Amtrak is a comfortable option, with the Silver Meteor and Silver Star providing direct service from cities along the East Coast to Orlando’s (ORL) station just south of downtown. From the station, it’s a short rideshare or taxi to the International Drive/Orange County Convention Center area and the Hyatt Regency Orlando.
Traveling in/Around Orlando: Local Transportation
Bus
LYNX routes connect the airport to International Drive (e.g., Route 42 to I-Drive/Convention Center; Route 111 serves the SeaWorld/I-Drive area). Expect ~60–75 minutes depending on transfers. Check current times on the LYNX website.
I-RIDE Trolley
Operating 8:00 am–10:30 pm daily, the I-RIDE Trolley serves the International Drive corridor (OCCC area). See the route maps and fares on their site.
LYMMO
LYMMO is a free Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) circulator that runs seven days a week throughout downtown Orlando. With its own dedicated lane and signal priority, you can move swiftly between major downtown destinations. Explore routes and hours of operation.
Visa and ESTA Information
International attendees may be able to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) with an approved ESTA. If you do not qualify for a waiver, you will need to apply for a visa. AAPM can provide an invitation letter to support your application.

- If you do not qualify for VWP: Apply for a visa to attend the AAPM Spring Clinical Meeting. Begin early to allow processing time.
- Invitation Letter: AAPM provides a customizable invitation letter to support U.S. visa or ESTA applications. This letter is a supplemental document and does not guarantee visa approval.
