The AAPM Annual Meeting includes several featured poster categories that spotlight high-scoring and high-impact work. Expand each section below to see what the category represents and where you can find these posters during the meeting.

Scientific Highlight Best in Physics

Best in Physics (BIP) posters represent science abstracts that received the highest scores during the review process. These presentations highlight outstanding research and advances in medical physics.

  • Authors deliver oral presentations within the meeting program in addition to their posters.
  • During their scheduled poster timeslot, presenting authors are available to interact with attendees and discuss their work.
  • BIP posters are featured in the Poster Theater and can also be viewed throughout the week in the Exhibit Hall and online via the meeting app and website.
Professional Focus Best of Professional

Best of Professional (BOP) posters recognize professional abstracts that received the highest scores during the review process, showcasing excellence in professional practice, implementation, and operations.

  • Presenting authors are available during their scheduled poster timeslot to answer questions and discuss their work.
  • BOP posters are featured in the Poster Lounge, creating a natural gathering point for practice-focused conversations.
  • Posters can be viewed throughout the week in the Exhibit Hall and online through the meeting app and website.
High-Impact Science Blue Ribbon Posters

Blue Ribbon Posters (BRP) are science abstracts recognized as the highest-scored and most engaging proffered posters, highlighting particularly impactful or innovative work.

  • Presenting authors are available during scheduled poster timeslots to engage with attendees and answer questions.
  • BRP posters are featured in the Poster Lounge and are easy to identify as a destination for high-impact research.
  • Posters can also be viewed throughout the week in the Exhibit Hall and online via the meeting app and website.
Featured Discussions General Poster Discussions

General Poster Discussions (GPD) include a select group of high-scoring posters identified by the Program Directors as being of special interest to attendees across the scientific, professional, and education programs.

  • GPD sessions provide structured time for questions and in-depth discussion with authors.
  • These posters are featured in the Poster Lounge and highlighted in the program as a point of focus.
  • They can also be viewed throughout the week in the Exhibit Hall and online through the meeting app and website.
Emerging Topics Expanding Horizons

Expanding Horizons posters feature work that broadens perspectives, explores emerging areas, or highlights novel applications and new directions within the field.

  • Designed to showcase ideas that may be exploratory, interdisciplinary, or forward-looking.
  • Featured in the Poster Lounge during scheduled sessions that encourage discovery and conversation.
  • Available for viewing in the Exhibit Hall and online through the meeting app and website.
Online Only Digital Poster Viewing

Digital Poster Viewing (DPV) features a select group of high-scoring posters highlighted by the Program Directors as being of special interest to attendees of the scientific, professional, and education programs.

  • These posters are available online only through the meeting app and website.
  • No physical posters are displayed onsite for this category.
  • Attendees can view DPV content at their convenience using the online platform, during and after the meeting.

  • Many posters are accompanied by authors who are available for questions and discussion.
  • Posters are organized by topic or session to help you find areas of interest.
  • Expect to spend about 3–10 minutes per poster depending on the level of detail and your familiarity with the topic.

Quick Tips for Viewing Posters

  • Plan ahead. Check the poster listings or map to find topics that interest you before you arrive in Hall C.
  • Engage with authors. Ask questions and discuss their work — it is a great networking opportunity and often the best way to understand the details.
  • Take notes. Capture key insights or contact information for follow-up so you can revisit ideas after the meeting.
  • Be respectful. Allow others space to view and read posters, and avoid blocking the aisle during longer conversations.
  • Allocate time. Some posters are detailed — spend a few minutes at each to get the main points rather than trying to read every word.
  • Explore and discover. Leave time to walk the aisles, skim titles, and stop when something unexpected catches your eye.

Best in Physics (BIP)

  • Display area: 7.67' W × 3.67' H (92" × 44" usable surface).
  • Recommended format: Wide Poster Template (landscape style).

Best of Professional (BOP), Blue Ribbon Posters (BRP), General Poster Discussions (GPD), Expanding Horizons

  • Display area: 3.67' W × 3.67' H (44" × 44" usable surface).
  • Recommended format: Square Poster Template.

Please verify your assigned category (BIP, BOP, BRP, GPD, or Expanding Horizons) and design your poster to fit the corresponding usable surface area.

Design Poster Templates

AAPM encourages you to use the meeting templates to promote consistency and readability, but you are welcome to use your own design as long as it fits the required dimensions.

Printing Poster Printing Options in Vancouver

You may use any printing service you prefer, or print your poster yourself and bring it to the meeting. Presenters are responsible for arranging printing, transporting or picking up posters, and mounting them in the Exhibit Hall.
